I have car troubble!!! Help!!?

I am the owner of a Chevy Tracker its a 1998 model. Its a great car except it squeaks and over heats if i take it for more than an hour drive. The squeak is constant and only stops when I accelerate or when the car is off. I have had a few friends tell me it is either a belt(where exactly in the car i don’t know) or its the water heater. I don’t have enough money to sell it and I would really like to know what is wrong with it so i can search a possible part on Craig’s list or Ebay. Please when you respond give me how you know and I would like to say thank you ahead of time for helping me out =) you are all awasome =)
I would like to know how easy or uneasy it is to fix whatever you think is wrong.
If you have further questions about the problems in my car please email me at brunettes_do_it_way_better_12345@yahoo.com

thanks agian

Is there another name for this car part?

I’ve been on the hunt for a rear differential for my Chevy Tracker. When ever I want to do a car part search on a car part website it never gives me that name of a part for an option. Is there another name for it?

Thank you!
Ok for anyone else that is going to answer this question… am I a total idiot? Did the car people try to get me to spend money I don’t have to? I’m one of those dumb girls arn’t I? Crap!!!

Does 4wd have nothing to do with the car part in question?

A/c,didn’t work.Bought a can of freeon with gauge, and dye light.Filled it up,checked to see if any freeon leaked out,it didn’t.Suddenly the fuse popped, replaced it.Tried again, then smoke rose from behind the fan, where the motor to kick on A/c is.Question,I’ve gone ALL over town,to Napa,World of Auto Parts, and even Advanced Auto.NONE of these places have what I need, except Advanced Auto, and they say that I will PROBABLY need THE SHROUD,THE FAN,and the MOTOR.The price for this Info?Over 0.00,give me a break.I can put the thing in,but I have to buy it 1st,and no junkyards around here carry this. They say,go to a CHEVY dealer.Does any1 know who will give an honest man a good deal?

Fix the current car or get another one?

Ok so I’ve got a Chevy Tracker that is not running right now. It needs a new rear differential. Which is going to cost me anywhere between 0 & 00 depending on new or used. Or I can sell the Tracker for parts and get maybe 0 to 0. Take that money and try to find another car. Problem is I can’t fit in a car payment and insurance into my budget. I can fit cheap insurance so if we can get a really cheap car that I can pay for upfront it could work. The parts seem to be hard to find as well, so does a cheap car…. see my issue.

So what should I do? Fix the one I have or sell it and find another one.

Where can I find the least expensive car parts?

I have to get some major work done on my car once I get my tax return. I’m going to spend over 00 maybe more than that so I want to get the most and best for my money. So if there any website or junk yard or any place you all know of that I can find just about anything? (I’ve got a 99 Chevy Tracker, Rear Axle Assembly) I’ve tried the normal routes with my local car repair but it seems like they are always more expensive. I live in AZ if that helps. Thanks all!

A few days ago while riding down the road the check engine light on my 2003 Chevy Tracker came on when I took it to the auto parts store they told me the code was saying Heater CK. Even though they had the machine they could not tell me what the code meant. The code also gave a p00030 reading. They were nice enough to turn the light off for me but I would like to know if that was something I need to be concerned about. The Tracker has 60,000 miles and no lights have never came on before. This has been a very reliable vehicle for me. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Older car part being used on a newer model?

I’ve got a 1999 Chevy Tracker, I’m trying to get the Rear Axle Assembly replaced. I found a part from a Geo Tracker 1992. Can this part be used?

I was looking into doing the replacement myself and the employee at the automotive parts store said that the wheel bearing assembly that she had in stock didn’t look like it went on the same as most, the bolts were not where they usually were in other wheel bearings. I did some searching online and found a Wiki answers page that says a special tool is needed (ca. 0) but no details and no year stated for the Tracker. So, the question is, 2003 Tracker, wheel bearing replacement, do I need a tool specifically for the Tracker that wouldn’t be in a normal garage?

I was driving home form work tonight in the country and saw my temperature gauge on my 2002 chevy tracker 2.5 liter engine rise and rise up to the red. I stopped checked the antifreeze level and the plastic container that holds it was empty. So, I added a little water into the plastic holder to get me to where I can buy some antifreeze. The temp gauge went back to normal but when I got into town, it started to go back up. Then suddenly as it was raising closer to the red it suddenly dropped back to normal. Then I bought some 50/50 antifreeze /water and filled the plastic part up to the full mark. Is that all I have to do to fill it up? Or is there someplace else you have to fill it up? After I filled it with antifreeze I drove around for about 10 minutes and when I stopped and put it in park and let it idle it started going back up again. I looked underneath and I know I have an antifreeze leak somewhere. But if it’s filled with antifreeze, shouldn’t it control the temperature? Please help!
There is a leak because I can see antifreeze on the frame under the radiator.
