Test details: The Suzuki Grand Vitara and Suzuki Vitara were introduced in the 1999 model year, and the Chevrolet Tracker was redesigned the same year. Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was reasonably well controlled. The driver door bowed outward and, during rebound from the airbag, the dummy moved up and toward the driver door, hitting the roof rail in front of the B-pillar. Injury measures — Measures taken from the neck, chest, and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the head indicate that injuries to the head would be possible. Head acceleration from the roof rail hit was low.

what a bad car…seriusly!!
That’s at a high speed into a solid barrier. The video doesn’t compare it to anything else. They are strong vehicles. I had an accident with a minivan with mine and the van fell apart. Mine had no damage.
fuck, I’ve got one of those
damn! I have a black one… never thought it would be so fragile…
Of course your safer in a new Euroncap 5 star car with all the bells and whistles.
But this is not that bad actually and allot better then the older Vitara.
I got this car. It sucks…First time I went offroading with it, the rear suspension broke…the second time I blew up a piston ring. its still under repair
Take it easier then, i have had no trouble but i look after mine
OMG They are supposed to Crumble you fool, thats why they Test the ZONES
less impact on occupamts & easier to get them out
Dat hurt!
Dat’ll leave a mark!
If you think this is bad check out the chevy astro
shit bad idea
badddd….
don’t drink and drive
Why some airbags are large while some are small like pancake??
I’d give that more of a marginal then acceptable…
i would not feel safe driving that look at the passenger compartment intrusion and the frame bend i’ll stay with my mazda 3
2001 XL-7 does so much better, i thought it was the same car sept longer? but guess not its a better Grand vitara.
Over here in UK, this car would have been given 3 stars if that.( Five+ being best rating NCAP)
The way the roof side rails, A Pillars deform is not a good even for an older car design. High likelihood of injury or death as no doubt the floorpan in region of drivers feet, dashboard and bulkhead (firewall) all moved forward and upwards. Seperate frame construction doesn’t make a car safer in a crash unless you’re hitting a much smaller, lighter object.
Good series of videos though.
My uncle has that car, and he crashes from time to time. i dont want to ride that car anymore
if thats a 99 vitara (as shown on the door sticker) being crash tested then why the hell are they made up to 2005?
I think its because that model was made from 1999-2004 and the new one was introduced in 2005
Oh dear I just bought one of those
Acceptable? Doesn’t look acceptable. Looks like that bitch hit her head on some jagged steel on its way back to the seat. If that was a person, I can’t help but think they would be busted up!
wat is the speed?
